13 Nov Trish – Backstory
Trish’s backstory:

Tom is seated at a bar, Ethan enters and walks over:
Ethan: “Got a minute for the little people?”
Tom: (surprised) “Only for you my friend. Have a seat, I’m buying you a beer.”
Ethan: “My lucky day… the big man is buying. Is this on the company or from you?”
Tom: “Ha!… it’s been a long time. Great to see you Ethan.”
Ethan: “Good to see you too. Actually I am a little surprised. Shouldn’t you be hanging off a hundred-foot wave somewhere?”
Tom: “Maybe, but then I’d miss hanging our with an old friend.”
Ethan: “And with that… I’ll take that beer.”
Tom: “So, where’s Trish? Don’t tell me she’s still stuck at the office?”
Ethan: “It’s been a busy week for her. We decided to meet up here later.”
Tom: “You two still not married yet?”
Ethan: (smiles) “Nope. You’ll be happy to know we’re focussed on the work right now… waiting on those promotions.”
Tom: “Ah.. well, you’ve both made good impressions with the people upstairs. So maybe soon.”
Ethan: “I’ll hold you to that.”
Tom: “So, how did you and Trish actually meet?”
Ethan: “I bumped into her at her parents’ farmer’s market.”
Tom: “Shopping for veggies and a girlfriend… bet that’s a good story.”
Ethan: “Yeah… she was in college at the time, helping out at the store on weekends. We ran into each, literally, sending the box of apples she was carrying all over the ground.”
Tom: (laughs) Classic! What did you do?
Ethan: “I apologized, helped her pick them up, and then said, ‘I hope I didn’t bruise your apples.'”
Tom: “Oh man, aren’t you a smooth operator.”
Ethan: “Yeah, not my greatest line, but she gave me a little smile and said, ‘Not to worry, I will make pies out of the bruised ones.'”
Tom: “Wow, you got saved there.”
Ethan: “Sure did. That response told me everything I needed to know about her. I was hooked.”
Tom: “So, what happened next?”
Ethan: “I kept coming back every weekend just to buy her pies.”
Tom: “And did she notice?”
Ethan: “Eventually, yes. It was the last weekend before the market would close for the season. I was in line to buy a pie when she came over. She asked how many I planned to buy to get her attention. I said, ‘This many.'”
Tom: (smirking) “Nice move! I underestimated you.”
Ethan: “Yeah, that was the spark. We started dating after that. She finished college, and I helped her get a job at the Lab. Now, I can’t picture my life without her.”
Tom: That’s a recipe for romance, cheers!”
