18 May Totem: 1983

1983, New York

Tom sent me this picture while visiting his grandma in New York. He took the Totem with him, and of course, the local kids loved it. The ‘Cyclops’ glasses were just a coincidence, and it didn’t take long to draw a crowd.

A news reporter interviewed the three boys, thinking they owned the ‘statue’. The boys, being quick-witted, said it was theirs. They claimed it was the mascot of their new hip-hop group and quickly began to rap for everyone.

Tom didn’t say anything. He just let the kids have fun, loving every minute.
