Print & Paper

An ongoing obsession with image craftsmanship and paper quality;

But the poetry of experience is all yours.

400+ years in the paper-making industry. Do I need to say more? Obviously not the only reason I choose Hahnemuhle for my Limited Edition prints. These papers have such a beautiful felt-like texture and soft feel. For me, the epitome of artist paper. And with such a broad range, it is hard to choose.

But I have landed on two selections; Photo Rag® 308 gsm & FineArt Baryta Satin 300 gsm. Each of these is paired depending upon the effect I am looking for with the image itself. Baryta gives a deep tonal range, rich blacks and great sharpness for black-and-white photography, whereas the Photo Rag lends a beautiful soft classic glow to imagery best suited to this extra-dimension. Of course, it goes without mentioning, but I will anyway; acid-free and lignin-free for age resistance, specially designed for FineArt applications.

Some images command a more classic paper selection—a look and feel reminiscent of the traditional silver halide prints. And so Christian has tested a new paper offering from EPSON – Legacy Platine. Legacy Platine is a 100% cotton fibre paper with a white, smooth satin finish. However, beyond all the marketing talk, his personal experience with this product is a very positive one. The Legacy line is truly built atop a foundation of quality; EPSON having partnered with leading European papermakers and reformulating its inkjet coatings to take advantage of the newest imaging technologies. All in all, truly astounding prints; with deep, rich blacks, expanded colour gamut, and gentle tonal gradations. And, as expected, with permanence and durability to match. 17mil / 314 gsm Acid and Lignen Free.

Framing matters

Framing: an equal partner to art

Framed art is more than just visually appealing; it can significantly enhance the perceived value of a piece. Also, proper framing adds a timeless quality that transforms a simple print into a meaningful element of a collection or home. Overall, it contributes to its importance as part of personal or familial history.

Perception is everything

The way art is presented can influence how it is perceived. A frame can define the artwork’s space on a wall, setting a tone or creating a focal point within a room’s design. It can also provide context—helping viewers understand the significance or style of the piece.

A personal touch

Selecting a frame allows individuals to express their personal taste and style. From modern to classical designs, the frame can reflect the owner’s aesthetic, making the artwork feel more integrated into their home or workspace.

Questions, questions …

Are the prints framed?

Christian’s art prints are sold unmounted and unframed, usually rolled in a rigid tube or cardboard sleeve. As with all art prints, we ask that clients limit touching with their bare hands or best use cotton gloves if possible.

Also, it’s recommended that prints are framed professionally using acid-free/age-resistant materials. The simple reason here is, the image will last longer than you. And when properly framed, this ensures your lineage can enjoy it across the ages.

Are the Prints signed by the artist?

All Christian Joore Limited Edition prints are personally signed by the artist, and showing an edition number (e.g. 5/30). In some cases, a client may prefer that the front of the art not show any markings or edition information. In this case, the back of the print will be signed and numbered indicating its authenticity.
