Objects reflected in water depend upon where they are located in the horizontal plane.
In the image, the Totem is above the woman’s head in the distance. However, the reflection of the Totem is close to her chin.
Objects do not reflect at equal distances with respect to the edge of the water, but rather reflect at equal distances with respect to their position along the horizontal plane.
The Totem is imagined to be roughly 30 metres beyond the edge of the tub in the field. The Totem’s height above the field is the same offset you’ll find its reflection in the water. Again, reflected at its position on the horizontal plane, not the edge of the water in the tub.
